The Big Oracy Debate: Oracy is Coming. Are We Ready to Teach It?
Zoom | 8th December, 4 – 5.30pm
Sometime soon, someone will ask what your school is doing about oracy. It’s confirmed for the new national curriculum from 2028, but the framework that sets out what it means isn’t written yet, which means there’s a window to get ahead.
On 8 December we’re bringing together six people who have spent years on talk in classrooms: Tom Sherrington (Teaching WalkThrus), Amanda Moorghen (Voice 21), Professor Julia Snell (University of Leeds), Dr Jim Rogers (The Great Oracy Toolkit), Zoe Enser (The Education Partnership Trust), and Matt Perry (The Halifax Academy), with Andy Newell hosting. Not to tell you what to do, but to argue out what oracy actually means, why it matters, and what it takes to make it work across a whole school or trust.
